Professional Communications Among CIS Expert Communities in the Field of Humanities

Professional Communications Among CIS Expert Communities in the Field of Humanities / V.V.Sutyrin, I.V.Zadorin, D.V.Maltseva, O.A.Molotkova, S.V.Rekeda, R.S.Kuznetsov. — Moscow: MGIMO-University Press, 2024. — 54 pages.

The paper presents the findings of a recent sociological study conducted in the summer of 2024 in Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Ka¬zakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia, involving a survey of 169 experts. The respondents represented the socio-humanitarian academic and expert community. The study revealed that active collaboration among scholars in the region remains active, serving as a valuable catalyst for further Eurasian integration. However, there is an increasingly entrenched divergence of vectors in professional communications among post-Soviet countries’ expert communities. This trend is partly exacerbated by sanctions-related restrictions. There are notable risks of a deeper fragmentation of humanitarian ties within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), driven by the ongoing pivot of some professional communities toward extraregional centers. Recommendations are provided to strengthen region-wide humanitarian ties.

The study was conducted as part of a grant from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia for establishing a World-Class Research Center (agreement No. 075-15-2022-327).
