“Homo perditus”: reasons for making the “right” choice in European elections

"Homo perditus": reasons for making the "right" choice in European elections / E.A.Sergeev, I.V.Kiseleva, V.V.Vorotnikov. — Moscow: MGIMO University Press, 2024. — 38 p.

The report has its main focus on defining the «anthropological» characteristics of what can be conventionally called the «right turn» in the EU. It looks into the reasons why the support of «right» or — more accurately — «right-wing populist» political forces has grown — both from the individual’s perspective and the individual level of decision-making — and how exactly it has happened. The perceptions of individuals eventually form a set of individual preferences at the country level that dominate the electoral process. Another attempt is made at capturing the political dynamics and activities of «right-wing» political forces at supranational level.

The study was conducted as part of a grant from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia for establishing a World-Class Research Center (agreement No. 075-15-2022-327).
